Madigan Pratt Managing Director
Madigan spearheaded the integration of general advertising and direct marketing for Xerox. Highly successful, sales-focused communications programs led him to pioneer many of the relationship marketing disciplines practiced widely today. He is expert at helping clients build brand advocates. In the late 1980’s he formed Madigan Pratt & Associates, Inc. a marketing firm dedicated exclusively to bringing new and more effective brand building solutions to luxury hotels and resorts. Madigan has served on numerous travel industry association boards including The Association of Travel Marketing Executives (Chairman), the Caribbean Tourism Organization (Executive Committee) and the Travel & Tourism Research Association/NY (President). He also serves on the Advisory Committee for the HSMAI Luxury Resort Special Interest Group. His articles are widely published and he is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. Madigan is often quoted in trade publications on issues relating to relationship marketing and branding. Ann Hughes – Managing Partner
Over a period of 12 years at Wunderman Worldwide, and DraftWorldwide – two of the world’s largest direct marketing companies – Ann lead teams working with American Express, Citibank, Hilton Hotels, Hyatt Hotels, British Airways and Verizon. Ann is expert in lead generation, traffic building and customer acquisition and retention marketing. She has helped clients segment their databases identifying high value customers responsible for the majority of profits. Her work has lead to development of recognition programs to stimulate incremental business and build brand advocates. Her business experience has provided Ann with extensive expertise in strategic partnerships that help maintain a relevant, profitable customer relationship. |

She is energetic, detail-oriented, a creative thinker and a strong writer. As someone who enjoys traveling, she is excited to bring her skills and experience to the hospitality industry. She has traveled to the Caribbean, Germany and throughout the U.S. including Hawaii. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), has a B.A. degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Central Florida and a M.S. degree in Integrated Marketing and Management Communication from Florida State University. During her career, she has been recognized with several awards for her marketing and communication efforts. |
Catherine Smagala – Account Executive
Hailing from Fairfax, Virginia, Catherine has traveled internationally, favoring warmer climates such as the Caribbean, Hawaii and Bermuda. Her luxury travel and island experiences enable her to well represent our clients in this sector of travel and hospitality. Catherine’s resourcefulness, initiative and demonstrated creativity enhance the efforts of MP&A. With MP&A’s focus on acquiring and retaining brand advocates and direct marketing, Catherine’s education and background make her a perfect match for our team. Catherine has been an active member in the Young Emerging Professionals of Williamsburg (YEP) since 2009 and was elected the position of Secretary in 2010. |
Kelly Pratt – Account Executive
Kelly gained relevant experience the last two summers at The Mullen Agency, part of the global Interpublic Group of Companies and at Sports Management International, a sports marketing firm. Clients benefit from her affinity for the groundswell of new and emerging media. She tackles assignments with strong organizational skills and a keen sense of creative insights. A New Englander at heart, Kelly has traveled extensively and loves to experience new places. |
Prior to founding MP&A, Madigan Pratt spent 15 years providing strategic marketing communications for sophisticated marketing-oriented Fortune 500 companies, including Procter & Gamble, Colgate Palmolive, Citibank, Xerox, and M&M/Mars.
Ann Hughes is a 25-year marketing veteran who has held senior management positions at several of the world’s largest communications firms. Her last 15 years have been spent specializing in direct marketing.
Julie joined Madigan Pratt & Associates in June 2009 after relocating to Virginia from the greater Atlanta area. She brings with her more than eight years of marketing and communication experience in the healthcare and global energy industries. Most recently, Julie was the Director of Marketing and PR for a community healthcare provider where she managed all of the internal and external communication efforts for two hospitals and several off-site facilities. Her efforts led to increased positive publicity, a stronger brand image and helped the facilities meet business objectives.
Catherine joined the agency in September 2007 after graduating from Christopher Newport University (CNU) with a B.S.B.A., concentrating in Marketing. Active in CNU’s well-established Direct Marketing Department, Catherine’s team won the 2007 Gold Collegiate Echo Award from the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) – the Direct Marketing Association’s equivalent of the Oscars. She and her teammates were recognized for winning this prestigious industry honor at the DMA’s International Echo Awards presentation in Chicago.
Kelly joined the agency in June 2009 as an account executive after graduating from the University of Richmond. She received a B.S.B.A. degree with a concentration in Marketing from Richmond which is ranked as the 12th best Business School in the US. She also earned an art history minor after spending a semester in Copenhagen, Denmark.
